The casting process of gray iron rotor bracket was simulated by the Anycasting software to visualize the possible location and origination of defects. On this basis

the optimized process was presented. The results show that oxidation inclusion in molten iron can be eliminated effectively by bottom pouring way into the casting cavity with the ceramic tube. To eliminate the shrinkage defects in the gray cast iron

according to the actual situation of the risers and chills

the chill is used to eliminate hot spot

and the riser is set nearby the hot spot to realize the sequential solidification

which is effective for eliminating partial shrinkage porosity.
