Filling process of magnesium alloy bottom cover with complicated structure was simulated by the Anycasting software to understand entrapment-gas defects in the die castings. The flow behavior of melt during die casting process was visualized to analyze the formation mechanism of entrapment-gas defects. Based on the simulated results
the process was optimized. The filling sequence of melt was modified by decreasing numbers of gate and adjusting filling angle. Through applying optimized design
