2014Al/TiB2 composites were fabricated by a mixed salt reaction in-situ synthesis process
and friction and wear properties of the composites were investigated.Microstructure of the composites was observed by XRD(X-ray diffraction)
SEM(scanning electronic microscope) and TEM(transmission electronic microscope).The results reveal that in-situ TiB2 particle is very fine with grain size smaller than 1μm and uniform distribution in the composites
obviously refining the microstructure of the composites.Dry sliding frictional and wear experiment at room temperature show that wear resistance of the composites is evidently superior to that of matrix alloy.Wear mechanism of matrix alloy is characterized by adhesive wear
and wear mechanism of the composites is characterized by typical abrasive wear.
