Abstract
Influence of calcium stearate on the hot properties of precoated sand has been studied. The results showed that hot toughness
softening point
sink rate
hot bending strength and resistance to hot tear of precoated sand are improved with an addition of calcium stearate more than 0.3% while the excessive addition of calcium stearate is subversive for stability at high temperature. The relationship between calcium stearate and sand core as well as casting quality of cylinder head of diesel engine for example is analyzed.
