A series of cast Al-Pb alloy with lead content from 0 to 25% has been produced using a new stirring foundry technology. The microstructure and mechanical properties of cast Al-Pb alloy has been studied. The results showed that the hardness
tensile strength and elongation of as-cast alloy decrease with lead content increasing in the given lead content range. Analysis for fracture indicated that fracture feature varies from ductile to brittle gradually with an increase of lead content. Friction and wear performance are minimized for an optimum lead content 15% - 20%
namely wear and friction coefficients are minimum.
