The mixing process during the smelting process of zinc-aluminum alloy was simulated and analyzed by ANSYS fluent software. The influence of single-layer and double-layer impeller on the stirring effects was investigated. The results indicate that both impellers have little influence on the flow direction in radial and axial direction
which have great influence on the flow velocity
where the difference of radial velocity near the axis is more than onetimes. Under the same rotation speed and steering
the double-layer impeller has high mixing efficiency with uniform flow field distribution and poor damage to the upper surface of the molten pool. The single-layer impeller has low stirring efficiency
which causes serious damage to the upper surface of molten pool
resulting in severe oxidation.
