The influence of compound heat treatment and special casting on the mechanical properties of TiB
2
particle reinforced aluminum-based composite was investigated by compound heat treatment process
combined with the water-cooled die and ultrasonic treatment technology.The results indicate that compound heat treatment technology can significantly improve the mechanical properties of composites
and optimal heat treatment process is presented.Water-cooled molds can raise the solidification speed of materials and refine grain
effectively improving the mechanical properties of the piston specimens
which exhibits desirable room temperature and mechanical properties at 350 ℃. Ultrasound treatment can improve the distribution of TiB
2
particles and crystalline phase
increasing the high-temperature tensile strength by 16.3% compared with the one without ultrasound treatment.
