Based on the principle of multi-element and small amount of alloying
rare earth elements such as Y
Nd
La
Ce
and Zr were added to Mg to prepare a novel magnesium alloy
and the mechanical properties and corrosion properties were measured. The results show that the tensile strength of Mg-Y-Nd-(La+Ce)-Zr magnesium alloy with 4.2%Y
2.7%Nd
0.1%(La+Ce)
and 0.5%Zr reaches 223 MPa
presenting desirable mechanical properties. In addition
the average corrosion rate of the alloy is 0.209 mg/(cm~2·h) in Hank’s solution for 96 hours.
