Inducing secondary phase is one of effective means to improve the room temperature plasticity of amorphous alloy matrix composites. The amorphous alloys and their deformation characteristics were reviewed
and the fabrication process as well as mechanical properties of amorphous alloy matrix composites were summarized
including ex-situ particle/fiber reinforced
in-situ precipitated phase reinforced systems and Zr-based
Ti-based and Mg-based alloy systems. In addition
the latest developments on reinforcing phases and their fabrication process were introduced
including porous particles
shape memory phase
dealloying reaction in metallic melt
selective phase leaching process. Moreover
the microstructure
mechanical properties and optimization technologies of the above composites were expounded in detail
and the prospect was pointed out.
