The effects of Y on the isothermal oxidation behavior of a nickel-based single crystal superalloy containing Re at 900 ℃
1 000 ℃ and 1 100 ℃ were investigated by static weight gain method. The microstructure and morphology of oxidation were analyzed by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscope(SEM). The results indicate that oxidation grade of the alloy with yttrium and without yttrium are all complete oxidation resistance grade at 900 ℃
1 000 ℃ and 1 100 ℃. The oxidation weight gain at 900 ℃ and 1 000 ℃ are hardly affected
while that at 1 100 ℃ is significantly reduced by the increase of Y content
which is attributed to the continuity increase of α-Al
2
O
3
caused by Y addition
enhancing the protective effect of oxide film.
