The microstructure and mechanical properties of the high-strength-ductility Al-Si-Cu-Mg alloy by squeeze casting were investigated. The results indicate that the alloy has excellent compactness
where the eutectic Si and Cu-containing phases are uniformly distributed in the cross-section of the specimen. After T6 treatment
the eutectic Si and Cu-containing phases are significantly spheroidized. The Cu/Si/Mg-containing nano-reinforced precipitations during aging can effectively increase the yield strength by more than 180 MPa
meanwhile the alloy can maintain desirable ductility. The yield strength
tensile strength of the squeeze casting Al-9 Si-3.4 Cu-0.15 Mg alloy can reach over 375 MPa and 423 MPa
