C/60 Al composite shielding material was prepared by high energy ball milling
pressing forming and vacuum sintering process. The effects of sintering temperature on microstructure
physical properties and shielding properties of W-Al-B
4
C composites were investigated systematically. The results indicate that with the sintering temperature of 530~630 ℃
the uniformity
density and compactness of 10 W-30 B
4
C/60 Al composite particles are increased firstly and then decreased with the increase of sintering temperature
while the porosity is decreased firstly and then increased. The increase of sintering temperature can also improve the shielding properties of neutron and γ ray in the composite
which
however
is decreased with the increase of sintering temperature when reaching a certain value. When the sintering temperature is 600 ℃
the performance of 10 W-30 B
4
C/60 Al composite is desirable
and the microstructure is uniform and compact
where the density and compactnessreach the maximum value of 1.836 g/cm
3
and 62.3%
respectively
and the attenuation coefficient also reaches the maximum value of 0.121.
