The influence of different casting temperatures on the microstructure evolution and properties of the Al-10 Si-0.3 Mg aluminum alloy was investiagated during die-casting process. The results show that the mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of the alloy present satisfied effects at 650 ℃. With the increase of casting temperature

cooling rate of the alloy is decreased

and the distance between primary and secondary dendrite is increased

meanhwile the size of primary crystal silicon and α-Al are increased with decrease of the strength. In addition

the number of pores in the alloy is increased

and the effective thermal area is declined with decreasing in the thermal conductivity

and the number and size of the dimples in the fracture of the alloy are decreased

which leads to the decrease of the plasticity of the alloy.
