According to the shrinkage porosity and cavity in ZL107 aluminum alloy intake pipe during the tilting casting and numerical simulation on ProCAST
the tilting casting process was optimized by orthogonal numerical simulation experiments to eliminate these defects. The results indicate that the influence of factors on shrinkage porosity present as follows: mould preheating temperature>pouring temperature>tilting speed>gate cup preheating temperature. The optimized tilting casting process parameters are as follows: pouring temperature of 740 ℃
preheating temperature of 400 ℃ and 350 ℃ for upper and lower mould
respectively
mould tilting speed of 9.0°/s
preheating temperature of gate cup of 300 ℃. After chilling the thick wall
modifying structure of riser system and insulation
the numerical simulation reveals that the solidification sequence of the casting is reasonable
and the shrinkage porosity and cavity disappear after optimizing
