The continuous casting process of 2219 aluminum alloy was simulated by Fluent software. The optimal ultrasonic application mode in continuous casting process was explored to achieve the uniform grain structure of casting ingots through the combination of simulation experiment of small ingot and the numerical simulation. The results indicate that different solidification speeds lead to uneven grain structure in the continuous casting ingots
and the ultrasonic application method has a great influence on the effect of grain refinement. When the solidification time is 4 min
the ultrasonic refining is more uniform in the first minute
reaching 24.5%. At the end of solidification
the ultrasonic refinement effect has a large gradient
which is decreased along the action direction.During the continuous casting process
ultrasound was applied in the middle of the width direction
and the prober should be located above the mushy zone.
