The hot deformation behaviors of homogenized Mn/Cr-containing aluminum alloys denoted as WQ were investigated systematically by uniaxial compression tests at various deformation temperature and strain rates. The hyperbolic-sine constitutive equation was employed to determine the parameters and activation energies of materials. Based on dynamic material model
the processing maps of WQ alloys were also constructed to reveal safe processing domain and optimize deformation parameters. Attributed to pinning effect of α-Al(MnCr)Si dispersoids
sub-grain rotation and sub-grain boundaries migration are suppressed. Hence
the softening mechanism in WQ alloy is dominated by dynamic recovery at safe processing domain. Cracks are observed in the microstructure of the machining instability zone
