A single SLM three-dimensional mathematical model was established using the smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH) method. The flow field
temperature field
surface tension and wetting action were coupled to simulate the SLM 316 L stainless steel powder. The influence of different laser power on the length and width of molten pool and the influence of surface tension on SLM process were analysed
and compared with the simulation and the experimental results of finite element simulation software. The results indicate that the length and width of the molten pool are increased with the increase of laser power
verifying that Marangoni is the driving force of SLM process.
