mechanical and corrosion properties of as-extruded Mg-7 Sn-5 Zn-3 Al alloy modified by sliding friction treatment(SFT) were investigated. After SFT
the grain in the surface layer of the alloy is significantly refined and the volume fraction of second phase is remarkly reduced with its dispersed distribution. Tensile testing results indicate that the SFT exhibits excellent mechanical properties
whose yield strength
ultimate tensile strength and elongation are 181 MPa
366 MPa and 18.1%
respectively. The corrosion resistance of SFT alloy is significantly improved
presenting a low average corrosion rate(4.51 mm/a) and corrosion current density(197.2 μA/cm
2
)
which is mainly related to the grain refinement
small amount of the second phase and dispersed distribution.
