The effects of hot isostatic pressure(HIP)(80~120 MPa)and duration(1~3 h)on defects and properties of AlSi7 Cu2 Mg alloy castings with different wall thickness were investigated by multi-step sand casting. The results reveal that with the increase of HIP pressure and holding time
the holes are reduced
the density and the tensile strength of castings with different wall thickness are enhanced. The thicker the wall thickness is
the more obvious the enhancement of density and tensile strength is.When the holding time is more than 2 hunder the fixed HIP temperature(490℃)and pressure(100 MPa)
the density is slightly increased
while the tensile strength has no obvious improvement when the HIP pressure exceeds a critical value(~100 MPa)under the fixed HIP temperature(490℃)and time(2 h).
