The effects of ceramic shell materials on microstructure and properties of superalloy blade were investigated by numerical simulation combined with experiments. The results reveal that the cooling rate of alumina shell casting is greater than that of mullite shell casting without ceramic insulating cotton wrapping
and the microstructure and properties of alumina shell casting are better. When the casting is wrapped with ceramic insulating cotton
although the cooling rate of airfoil of alumina shell casting is still greater than that of mullite shell casting
the cooling rate of root of alumina shell casting is less than that of mullite shell casting
which means that the microstructure and properties of root of mullite shell casting are better
while the airfoil of that are worse. The numerical simulation results of the airfoil is coincided with the experimental ones when wrapped with ceramic insulating cotton.
