The rapid development of aerospace and automobile fields strongly demand low-cost
high-quality and high-performance aluminum alloys. Aluminum components prepared by squeeze casting exhibit outstanding advantages
such as compact structure
weak anisotropy
few casting defects and high mechanical properties. At present
the development of alloys suitable for squeeze casting with proprietary intellectual property rights and their production processes is the key to development of squeeze casting. Characteristics of various squeeze casting methods such as direct squeeze casting
indirect squeeze casting and semi-solid squeeze casting was analyzed comparatively.Moreover
squeeze cast aluminum alloys were categorized
which could provide references for the preparation of high-performance squeeze cast aluminum alloys. Finally
the challenge in the development and key points in the research of squeeze cast aluminum alloys were pointed out.
