Abstract
The effects of different calcium content on corrosion resistance of ZA104 alloy in 3.5% NaCl solution were investigated by metallographic microscope
static weight loss corrosion test and electrochemical method. The results reveal that the static weight loss corrosion rate of ZA104 magnesium alloy in NaCl solution is decreased and then increased with the increase of calcium content. The self-corrosion potential of ZA104 alloy is increased with the addition of calcium. With 0.3% Ca addition
the polarization curve of the alloy shows that the self-corrosion current density is the lowest
and the corrosion resistance of ZA104+0.3 Ca alloy presents desirable. In addition
the addition of calcium is beneficial to refine the structure and improve the corrosion resistance of the alloy.
