0.5%and 1% Mo were prepared by vacuum arc furnace. The effects of Mo addition on microstructures and properties of the Ni-20 Cr alloy were investigated by means of optical microscopy
electron probe
scanning electron microscopy
resistometer
tensile tester and Vickers hardness tester. The results reveal that the addition of Mo can refine effectively the grain size of Ni-20 Cr alloy and increase the resistivity of Ni-20 Cr alloy. With the increase of Mo content
the high temperature tensile strength of Ni-20 Cr alloy is increased firstly and then decreased. With Mo addition of 0.5%
the high temperature tensile strength of the alloy reaches the maximum value of 169 MPa.At the same time
the plasticity of Ni-20 Cr alloy is decreased
however
the fracture mode of Ni-20 Cr alloy is still plastic fracture.
