Aiming at two difficulties in designing die for engine chain cover such as shrinkage porosities easily generated in the cover as a result of forming difficulty in top pouring and warping deformation during machining large plane
numerical simulation was carried out by the Magma to determine rational gating system and present the hot spot position
deformed mode and parameters.Additionally
according to analysis
various ways including employment of hole position to increase squeeze pins
optimization of the arrangement of die thimble and water cooling
and balance of die wraping force
were applied to realize development of die casting die.The results demonstrate that the qualified rate of die casting engine cover reach up to above 96%
and the flatness of processing on lager plane can be controlled within 0.8 mm
