metallography and hardness of burst failure aluminum alloy T-shaped tube were analyzed by SEM
EDS and optical microscope.The results reveal that the failure fracture is characterized by ductile fracture.Hydroforming Tshaped tube has a higher compressive strength compared with tube billet due to working hardening
and the shoulder is severely thinned under the internal pressure.What’s more
the instantaneous fracture was formed at the shoulder of T-shaped tube and then extended to both ends.The shoulder thickness of Tshaped tube should be appropriately increased to improve pressure resistance under the working environment.
