By high energy ball milling and vacuum hot-press sintering method

the corrosion resistance of four Mg-Zn alloy was analyzed.The results show that the second phase Mg

MgZn

can be observed in ball milled powder and sintered alloy ingot
and with increasing in the content of zinc
the second phase is increased.Weight loss of Mg-5Zn and Mg-10Zn is the higher than that of Mg-1Zn and Mg-3Zn alloy
which is related closely with the second phase Mg
2
Zn
3
MgZn
2
.Zinc element in corrosion liquid can form a certain amount of ZnO passivation film
which can protect the matrix together with the Mg(OH)
2
.Mg-3Zn alloy presents the desirable corrosion resistance in the four Mg-Zn alloys.
