The effects of pattern density and pouring temperature on the filling and solidification of gray cast iron in lost foam casting process were understood using numerical simulation method
which were compared with the practical casting.The simulated results show that the filling speed of molten metal is increased with the increase of the pouring temperature and the decrease of the pattern density.At the same time
the high pouring temperature will also increase the pressure of the gas film between the pattern and the molten metal
which will make the rate of return and molten metal forward speed to achieve dynamic balance.The higher pouring temperatures and lower pattern densities tend to reduce the formation of shrinkage porosity.
