Porous Al-5Cu alloys were fabricated by GASAR(the metal-gas eutectic method)method.Influences of temperature and hydrogen pressure on porosity of the GASAR Al-5Cu alloys were investigated.The results reveal that increase of temperature and hydrogen pressure can improve the hydrogen solubility in the liquid Al-Cu alloy
resulting in the increase of porosity.The mechanism of pore formation in GASAR Al-5Cu alloy is described:pores formed in eutectic phase and grown with the movement of liquid/eutectic solid interface.In addition
the compressive behavior of GASAR Al-5Cu was also analyzed.
