The corrosion behavior and corrosion mechanism of 5Cr5MoSiV1 steel after different heat treatment processes in neutral and acidic environment were investigated by polarization curve
electrochemical impendance spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The results reveal that the type of surface damage of 5Cr5MoSiV1 steel is characterized by pitting corrosion and intergranular corrosion in3.5% NaCl solution and in 0.05mol/L H

solution.After the electrochemical test
the sample treated at 1 050 ℃ quenching and air cooling has the desirable corrosion resistance
which is attributed to more Cr atom dissolving in the Fe matrix
thus increasing the compactness of the protection surface film and improving its corrosion resistance.
