Fe-based alloying powder was prepared to modify the 45 steel by laser cladding technique. The microstructure and corrosion resistant behavior of the cladded layer were investigated by OM(optical microscopy)
XRD(X-ray diffraction)
TEM(transmission electron microscopy)
a three-electrode electrochemical cell and salt spray testing. The experimental results indicate that 45 steel can be modified by laser cladding technology with Fe-based powder.Excellent chemical metallurgical bonding can be observed between cladding layer and substrate. The matrix phase in cladding coating is pure BCC
and the laser cladding layer exhibits desirable corrosion resistance.
