mechanical properties and damping capacity of Mg-0.9Si alloy were investigated.The results show that the solidified microstructure of Mg-0.9Si alloy can be refined significantly with Zr addition.The optimized Zr addition is 0.6%.With 0.6% Zr addition
the tensile strength and elongation of the as-cast Mg-0.9Si alloy reach 187.2MPa and 6.8%
respectively
increased by 43.4% and by 64.3%
compared with those of the unmodified alloy.Mg-0.9Si-0.6Zr alloy exhibits much higher damping capacity than that of the unmodified alloy.
