The microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-6.5Mg alloy under as-cast and annealed state conditions were investigated by OM

SEM

EDS

tensile testing machine and JMat-Pro software.The results reveal that the grain size of the as-cast alloy reaches 90μm

and the average tensile strength

yield strength

elongation and section shrinkage reach 228 MPa

131.7 MPa

31.9% and 39%

respectively.Meanwhile

fracture morphology is characterized by the typical dimple fracture.After annealing at 500 ℃ and 520 ℃for 24 h

respectively

the yield strength

elongation and section shrinkage exhibit stable

however

the tensile strength is improved by 23.2% and by 24.2%

respectively

reaching 281 MPa and 283 MPa.In addition

the fracture morphology is still presented as the dimple fracture.Driving by the thermodynamics in the annealing process

the EDS scanning atomic percentage of Mg element distributed in the grain interior and grain boundary are increased slightly.
