Abstract
The needle form of iron compounds in an eutectic Al-Si alloy has been changed into spheroidal form after the alloy is heated to a high temperature and poured into a permanent mold. The mechanical properties of the alloy containing 0.8%

.8% Fe have become much better obviously due to the spheroidization of needle iron compounds with spheroidized
iron compunds
the room-temperature tensile strengh of the alloy containing 1. 8%Fe is increased by 83%
the elongation at 300C is increased by 80% as compared with the alloy whose iron compounds were of needle form. The spheroidal form of the iron compounds could be remained after remelting.
