The solidification structure of Ph-- 60wt%Sn alloy could be modified by two patterns of pulse electric discharging (PED). It is found that Ph--rich primary phase --dendritic is broken off into globular under PED with big capacitance
and under continuous PED with small capacitance and high voltage
the eutectic grains are pulled long along the electrods direction
the eutectic lamellars grow along the same direction and the lamellar spacing becomes small. Finally
the role played by PED on solidification structure has been discussed.
