Furan resin bonded sand is poor in collapsibility when it is used for non-ferrous metal casting
especially for thin section castings and heavy walled cores. To solve this problem
a series of experiments in reducing the retained strength while remaining the hot strength in different temperatures for KJN-Ⅲ furan resin-bonded sand sample using a different amount of additives have been carried out. The results show that the retained strength can be reduced by 40% ̄80% when a certain amount of additives is used.
