Slurry making is the key process in semi-solid mental forming. In this paper the development and present state of the research on semi - solid mental slurry making are discussed

and a new technology-Liquidus Casting is proposed. The study on the aluminum alloys show that uniform

fine and non - dentritic structures can be obtained by Liquidus Casting. The grains

whose average size is 50 μm

can be completely turned into uniform and fine equiaxed grains. The structures are ideal for thixoforming. Liquidus Casting has lots of advantages

such as simple technology

low investment

high efficiency and is easy to extensively applied in industry. Special superiority is showed in semi-solid slurry making of the wrought aluminum alloys.
