Surface roughness of iron matrix composites castings reinforced by ferrochrome (Cr\|Fe) and tungsten carbide (WC) particulates with different grain size is tested in this paper. The influence of particulate type and grain sizes on surface roughness of iron matrix composites castings analyzed. The results show that: surface roughness of iron matrix composite castings reinforced by particulates is in the range of \%Ra\%\{6.3\} ̄50 m; the surface roughness of composite castings increases with the increase of particulate sizes; the surface roughness of WC composites is larger than the of Cr\|Fe composites with the same particulate sizes.\=
