The mathematical model for solidification process simulation in sand lined metal mold was established. The shrinkage defect of S.G.iron castings were predicted by dynamic expansion and contraction accumulation method (DECAM) and criterion of K·G/R . The simulation calculation for new S.G.iron four cylinder crankshaft was conducted using the model. Based on the simulation results
the initial technology was optimized and the sound casting has been produced in practical production. It was showed that it is helpful to improving casting quality
shortening trial production period
and decreasing tool cost through numerical simulation and process optimization for S.G iron casting in sand lined metal mold.
