Abstract
Combining rapid prototyping with transferred coating precision casting
a rapidly manufacturing method for complicated curved metal die was developed. The process was divided into four steps: first
designing the die using 3D software; second
making die prototyping by laminated object manufacturing(LOM); thirdly
spraying transferred coating directly on LOM pattern; finally
forming metal die with near net shape. The process has the features of short time and low cost
especially suitable for the rapid manufacturing of small size die in sand casting or lost foam casting.
