Creep resistances of Mg-Li alloy and MgO/Mg\-2Si particulate reinforced Mg-Li matrix composite prepared by reaction synthesis in liquid at room and elevated temperatures were studied. The results showed that the creep resistance of the composite is significantly higher than that of the matrix alloy and the effect is better with the increase of temperature. The creep rate of the composite is 10% and 2% of matrix alloy at room temperature and 160℃. The mechanism could be attributed to the increase of the yield stress and Young’ s modulus of composite by MgO/Mg2Si particulate
to the restriction of relative sliding of grain boundary
to the block of dislocation movement
and to the reduction of diffusion rate of atoms and vacancies.
