The effects of natural convection on the microstructure in Fe C binary alloy ingot during solidification process were simulated. First ly
finite differential method was used to calculate macro temperature field an d velocity field as well as solute transfer. Microstructural evolution of the in got was simulated by above calculated known value coupled cellular automation(CA). The simulation results showed that natural convection can change the distribution of te mperature
solute and velocity field in the ingot during cooling and solidificat ion process so as to affect the evolution of solidified microstructure.
