The compressive experiments on the foamed Al-Mg alloy foam were conducted under the strain rate ranging from 10. -3s. -1to 1 600 s. -1.The compressive stress-strain curves of the material were measured at different strain rate. The effects of strain rate on the compressive properties and energy absorption capacity of the foams were investigated. The experimental results indicate that the foamed Al-Mg alloy exhibits a significant strain rate effect in dynamic compression
the yield strength and the flow stress of the material increase with increasing strain rate;as a result
the energy absorption capacity of the foam is enhanced
while the stress created in the foam increases under dynamic compression
