The as-cast microstructures of Zn-2.98Cu peritectic alloys with different cooling rates in various molds were investigated.The results indicated that the microstructure consists of ε phase and η matrix phase in sand mold and permanent mold
while it consists of directional ε phase and η matrix phase as well as lamellar (ε+η) phase in mold with directional temperature gradient.A further investigation for the lamellar microstructure is conducted.Average value between lamellar in obtained Zn-Cu peritectic alloy is 4.06 μm.
