During manufacturing the semi-solid alloy by inclined cooling-shearing process
the microstructure of the alloy involves from coarse dendrite to fine spherical grains
and microstructure formation is related to dendrite fracture and explosive nucleation mechanism.Meanwhile
the microstructure of the alloy was significantly affected by inclined angle and length
pouring temperature as well as surface properties of the inclined plate.The results show that the inclined cooling-shearing rheocasting can greatly improve the microstructure of the 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel and feather-grain structures of the Al-10Mg alloy in conventional casting.
