Effects of pulse electric current on directional solidification structure of Al-4.5Cu alloy have been observed. The results revealed that with increasing in peak value of pulse current and frequency
columnar crystal in the Al-Cu alloy is breakdown to convert strip into discontinuous net to disappear its directional orientation. In addition
the space between columnar crystal is decreased with the increase of the peak value and frequency. The strong turbulence resulted from generated pulsed magnetic force and Joule heat effect during the introduction of pulse electric current are responsible for the disappearance of the directional orientation.
