Effects of different casting-infiltration ways on thickness and quality of Si-Fe compound layer on cast steel part surface have been conducted.Microstructure
constituent and properties of Si-Fe compound layer were determined by SEM(scanning electromicroscope)
EDS and micro-hardness tester.Desirable cast-infiltrated Si-Fe compound surface with 0.5
3
.3 mm in thickness can be obtained on the cast steel parts surface with pouring temperature at about 1 560 ℃ for liquid steel. In addition
the bonding mechanism of cast-infiltrated Si-Fe compound layer with matrix exhibits sawtooth-like metallurgical bonding.
