Abstract
The effects of Sr content on the microstructure of in-situ Mg2Si/Al composites have been observed by XRD
SEM and extracted technology. And spherical semi-solid microstructure in the composites can be successfully achieved by isothermal heat treatment. The results show that with the increase of Sr content
primary Mg2Si particles are converted from dendritic phase into polygonal and then to quadrangle with grain size of about 40 μm.After isothermal heat treatment
both the primary Mg2Si particles and α-Al phase in the composites are spheroidized. The spheroidization mechanism has been approached briefly.
