The effects of minor Ag addition on the heat-resistant properties of Al-5.3Cu-0.8Mg-0.5Mn-0.5(Zr+Ti)alloy have been investigated by tensile testing and transmission electromicroscope(TEM).It is revealed that the ambient strength and heat-resistant properties of the alloy can be improved greatly as a result of changing the aging process of the alloy with Ag addition.The strengthening precipitates in the alloy containing Ag is composed of coherent laminate Ω phase and a small amount of θ’ phase with peak aging at 185 ℃.Strengthening mechanism of minor Ag addition is attributed to the precipitating hardening of Ω phase
and the improvement of heat-resistant properties of the alloy is a result of higher thermal stability of Ω phase than that of θ’ phase.
