Effects of various cooling rates on solidification of the ZL114A alloy were investigated by experimentally analyzing multi-step ZL114A samples in low pressure casting. A nucleation model was established on the basis of experimental data
in which the thermal-kinetics parameters were provided. The results show that with the increase of cooling rate
all the liquidus temperature
nucleation temperarure and eutectic transformation temperature are decreased. A modified Cellar Automaton model coupled with FDM(finite differential method) was used to simulate the macro-solidification and microstructure evolution of the alloy. The microstructure at different positions of the engine for aerospace was predicted by the model
