Abstract
The spheroidizing effects of Ce on Fe(Si)-rich impurity phase
and its effects on the mechanical properties and the erosion resistance of commercial pure aluminum were investigated by microstructure observation
tensile strength testing
inert erosion resistance as well as SEM and EDS analysis.The results reveal that Ce can spheroidize Fe-rich phase from coarse Chinese script into fine spheroid and create high point intermetallic compound containing Fe and Si impurity.The tensile strength and elongation of commercial pure aluminum with Ce modification were improved by 44.18% and by 32.04%
respectively
with erosion resistance raising by 220%
compared with that of aluminum without Cr modification.
